Tom Lewis to encounter a tough challenge in Scotland, aims to get into the British Open
Less than a week is left for the 2012 British Open Championship. The event starts from Thursday, the 19th of July 2012 and ends on the 22nd of July 2012. This year the event is going to take place at the Royal Lytham & St Annes golf
course.
A player trying to qualify for the British Open Championship 2012 is Tom Lewis. This year the youngster is trying to get in the Championship and he has one last chance to qualify. Lewis will have to finish in the top-five positions to appear in the Championship.
One of the most awaited European events, the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open is finally about to start. The venue for the Open is Castle Stuart Golf Links.
The biggest names in the sport are going to fight for glory at this prestigious event. Last year’s winner of the cup was Luke Donald.
Lewis will have to perform very well to shine in the Scottish Open. The tournament is going to be very hard for him as he does not have much experience and will be playing against some of the biggest names in the world of golf.
The list includes the world’s number one Luke Donald, four-time major winner Phil Mickelson, three-time major winners Padraig Harrington, Ernie Els and former Open champions Paul Lawrie and Louis Oosthuizen.
This is going to be one tough stage and the stakes are very high as well. Lewis seems calm in these circumstances and said, "It's asking a lot, but we will see".
Lewis pulled out of the Irish Open due to some problem and went to Las Vegas to be coached by Mickelson's coach Butch Harmon.
Harmon made the 21-year-old work on his back swing as he requires more control in his game.
“Before I used my hands a lot and I was convincing myself I was hitting it well, whereas I was actually timing it well,” Lewis explained. “All my life I haven't been very consistent -- I haven't been able to have four good rounds”.
Whatever may be the case the next two weeks are going to be very interesting with Tom Lewis in the spot light.
