Tom Luchsinger captures Men’s 200m butterfly gold – Swimming news
Tom Luchsinger of Una NCAC-NC captured gold medal in the Men’s 200m butterfly on opening day of the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships & World Champ. Trials in Indianapolis on Tuesday, June 25.
The 22-year-old Luchsinger booked his ticket to the world championships by securing the title of 200m discipline at the national trials. With his impeccable pace, he remained in a comfortable lead over his supporters and tapped the wall for the title.
His commendable form placed him two body lengths ahead of his closest competitor as he tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 55.57 seconds for gold medal.
With his notable pace, Tyler Clary remained 2.01 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end for silver medal by producing an effort of 1 minute and 56.58 seconds.
Tom Shields of California Aquatics, who was 0.80 seconds slower and tapped the finishing end for bronze medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 57.39 seconds, chased the second best finisher.
Fourth fastest spot of the discipline was secured by Bobby Bollier of Stanford Swimming, who was only 0.01 seconds away from his preceding finisher and hit the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 57.40 seconds.
Andre Seliskar of Nation’s capital, who was only 0.08 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for fifth place by producing an effort of 1 minute and 57.48 seconds, obtained fifth fastest spot of the discipline,
Sixth spot of the event was secured by Dan Madwed of Club Wolverine-M, who was 0.20 seconds slower and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 57.68 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was obtained by Kyle Whitaker of University of Michigan, who was almost full body length apart and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 58.52 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Chase Kalisz of North Baltimore, who was 0.08 seconds apart and concluded his race in a time of 1 minute and 58.60 seconds.
In addition, Luchsinger was excited with his top finish and collected medal after the race.
