Tom Moore new "Mega-consultant" for New York Jets – NFL News
New York Jets consultant Tom Moore will now be staying with the Jets for the rest of the season. The Jets had hired him in July. Moore spent thirteen years with the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning giving advice to the Colts
offence.
Moore, the "Mega-consultant," as the Jets Coach Rex Ryan joked will now be employed for full time. Previously he had been serving the Jets mainly from his home in Hilton Head, South Carolina but will now have to be with them on
a daily basis. His roles then had included evaluating the Jets’ team performance, researching on opponent teams and players, and keeping in touch with Ryan and other coaches and players through the email and telephone.
Ryan had hired Moore basically to improve the poor performance of the Jets in the end zone. Moore has been very much successful as the Jets are on the top in performing in the end zone.
Jets poor performance on the offence side and Moore’s acquisition gave rise to reports that Ryan was not pleased with the offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. However, Ryan shrugged aside such reports saying that the perception
was wrong.  Ryan went further to say that Schottenheimer’s role would not be affected in any way.
"I have great confidence in Brian. This is just a thing that helps. You get a guy with this kind of experience, how can it not help your football team?"
Even Moore was supportive of Schottenheimer. Moore said that he was just here to make observations and Brian had and was doing a “tremendous job”.
This may assuage Schottenheimer’s worries a bit as he has been under great fire this season, especially after Jets 17-13 loss in Denver.
Meanwhile, Ryan has said that Moore’s contribution would be decided by Schottenheimer.
"I feel better when I see him out there with us and he's actually working with us and not against us. I think it's great that our players get around him. Here's a guy that has coached Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, and the receivers
in Indy have been pretty decent. So, I think it's good." Ryan said.
On the other hand, Jets players including Tight end Dustin Keller and Mark Sanchez appear pleased with Moore. Sanchez termed Moore one of the best “offensive minds”, saying he always helped you in improving and his presence would
be good for the offence.
