Tom Palmer might face a counterattack after listing England as the big guns of rugby union.
England and France are about to face each other in a lip smacking Six Nations fixture at Twickenham, which is also a Grand Slam eliminator for anyone of the side that loses.
Palmer, being a professional player for Stade Francais knows the intensity of this game and admits the strengths of French team are unavoidable. The English loc himself being a part of a French side knows the abilities of the opponents and their quality
of rising up on tough situations.
This time its not only the traditional rivalry that will spark the French game-play, but it’s the opportunity of grabbing Grand Slam that will trigger their muscles to the front-foot.
Palmer said, “Everyone detests the English and everyone elevates their skill when we come up next to them. It is the same when we go to Dublin, Cardiff and Edinburgh. Even the Australians and Kiwis don't like us!”
He related England’s stature in rugby to its international reputation, where everyone who has been a victim of British colonization hates them. Talking about it he said, “That's just the way it is really, it's all part of our colonial account and our
realm. England also has the largest union in the world and it's always excellent to beat the big boys, isn't it.”
Ben Foden had already given such statements a week ago and was very boastful about his side. He said, “We are England, we are the big country, we are going to put these guys in their place.”
He added, “It seems like as if we’re the big brother and we have to assure we thump our younger brother. We can’t allow our younger brother to prove that they are better than us.”
Such statements just prove that England want to make their opponents nervous. It has been an old English strategy and they are always looking forward to fire up their opponent before the match and see them retaliate. But its France, Foden and Palmer
are talking about. The defending champions have all the reasons to win and all the abilities to turn the tables.
Keeping these statements in mind and the recent performances, we can assume England wants this victory badly, while France seems to be a silent serpent waiting to attack.
