The Chicago Bulls head coach who has led his team a 14-10 record, 4th best in the top-heavy Eastern Conference, is confident that his star point guard can make a return in the second half of the season….
Derrick Rose is one of the best, if not the best, point guards in the league. He is one man who has changed the very outlook of the Chicago Bulls in the last four years, and it is because of him that the windy city can once again
envision a NBA championship, years after the glory days of Michael Jordan.
Rose tore his ACL on April 28 in the dying minutes of game -1 of the first round series against the Philadelphia 76ers, and after undergoing a surgery on May 12, has been in the rehabilitation process. The process normally takes
6 to 8 weeks, and as we stand on the cusp of a new year, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau is confident that Rose can make a planned comeback.
"He's right on schedule," Thibodeau said on "Mike & Mike In The Morning" on ESPN Radio. "He's not ahead of schedule. He's not behind. We have to be patient. It's the type of injury that you have to take your time with, and when
he's ready to come back, he'll be ready to come back. There is no time scheduled for it."
Bulls have been playing excellent basketball this season. While they might not have had the pedigree to challenge the big boys without Rose, Thibs and his team have pulled off wins on a consistent basis and are preparing the field
for Rose to just come and take over. That comeback will have to be slow, but will start pretty soon;
"He's doing a lot, but he hasn't done anything with contact," Thibodeau added. "So we're going to go step by step. First he has to get into practice and he has to practice well for a while. And then we'll move on from there.”
In Derrick’s absence, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer have upped the ante, especially on the offensive end. That momentum can be instrumental for the belief which the trio apparently didn’t have in the last two Bulls’
playoff trips.
