Tom Watson hails Bubba Watson as the swing guru after his gigantic Masters victory
Legendary Tom Watson recently came out with his praise for the left-handed Bubba Watson, who surged to stardom with his victory in the Masters last week.
Watson, himself a winner of a whooping eight major titles, lauded the way Bubba went over to land a precise approach shot on the second playoff and finally watching it sink on the 17th to land his first major title of his career.
Watson said, "The only two people that I have witnessed be able to hit a wedge like that are Trevino and Andy North. They can turn a wedge just right around a corner. I can't do that. I can't turn it that much".
Watson was talking to the media men on Thursday, at Encompass Insurance Pro-Am of Tampa Bay.
He admitted that he alongside his fellow veteran Nick Faldo had never seen a shot like that, which would sound to its right after landing on the green.
The shot turned out to be a deliberate spin from the mighty Bubba, which swirled to reach out for the hole, diminishing any chances of Oosthuizen to hope for a bogey by Watson.
The elder Watson added, "When that shot hit the green and (Nick) Faldo so correctly said, 'I've never seen a ball s***w to the right like that on this green ever.' We've never seen a shot like that".
"He had to play that shot and he did and won the tournament with it. That's what makes certain tournaments legendary".
Bubba clinched his first major title after a lapse of almost a decade and now owns his own locker in the champions’ locker room at the Augusta National.
He is currently on a celebrity tourney around the US, giving interviews to high profile TV channels of the likes of CNN, CNBC, CBS and many more.
Elder Watson, a golf royalty himself, has pulled in amazing shots in his career, always mesmerizing his fans all over the world.
He has won eight major titles in his grizzled career, including two green jackets coming in 1977 and 1981. He has won the Open Championship for a jaw-dropping five times and is known for his penchant for the Links Golf.
