Tomas Berdych books a spot in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals – Tennis News
Czech number one, Tomas Berdych, qualified for the year-end Barclays ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour Finals after capturing his second year-to-date title at the If Stockholm Open.
Ranked sixth in the world, Berdych captured his eight crown at the ATP World Tour 250 Series event held in Stockholm after showing exceptional skills and abilities. With this victory, the Czech stole the show and occupied the sixth spot at the year-end finals.

"London is always a goal every season. You have to play well the whole year to qualify. It will be special for me to play there for the third year in a row," said the delighted Czech about the London qualification.
The Executive Chairman and President of ATP, Brad Drewett, congratulated Berdych on qualifying. He was quoted in a press conference:
"I’d like to congratulate Tomas on having qualified for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals for a third consecutive season. In recent years, Tomas has firmly established himself at the highest level on the ATP World Tour and his qualification provides confirmation
of another outstanding season in 2012."
The Czech veteran showed top class performance throughout the circuit. He captured his first title of the season at the Open Sud De France in Montpellier in January. Berdych reached quarter-finals at the Australian Open, first of the four Grand Slam events
held in Melbourne. He then made final four appearances at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, Shanghai Rolex Masters and at the US Open in Queens, New York City.
Mustering his performance further, Berdych made a fourth round showing at the Roland Garros in Paris (lost to Juan Martin Del Potro). He also reached title-rounds at the Power Horse World Team Cup in Dusseldorf (lost to Serbian number two Janko Tipsarevic)
and at the Winston-Salem Open (lost to the local number one John Isner).
He crashed out from the opening rounds at the Wimbledon Championships and at the London Olympics but his overall performance led him to qualify at this year-end event, which is the biggest tennis tournament after the four Grand Slams.
