Tomas Berdych will most likely receive his breakthrough in the 2013 – Tennis Special
Ranked sixth in the South African ATP World Tour Rankings, Tomas Berdych, will surely receive his major breakthrough in the year 2013. He has surely evolved over the years as a successful man, contesting not only for his country
but also matured as a professional player.
In the start of 2012, he passed from a transitional phase because he displayed a satisfactory performance. Berdych battled until the quarter-finals of the Australian Open and he faced the higher ranked king of clay, Rafael Nadal,
who penned down his remarkable win.
The Czech sustained his world top 10 rank after defeating Nicolas Mahut, Phil Kohlschreiber and Gael Monfils at the Open Sud de France. This helped him to overcome his earlier loss at the Australian Open and giving him some valuable
score points and boosted his morale for the future tournaments.
At the clay courts of Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open, he battled through the finals. He prevailed over all the powerful players, including Gael Monfils, Fernando Verdasco ad Juan del Potro on his way but in the end he lost at the
hands of Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer.
The right-hander Czech contestant progressed at a decent pace at the French Open. Nonetheless, he received a shocker at the hands of the Argentinean challenger, Del Potro. He was unable to display his true potential at the London
Olympics and attained a straight sets defeat, 4-6, 4-6 by the Belgian professional, Steve Darcis.
The 27-year-old professional slowly started to transcend at the Winston-Salem Open held at the hard courts of United States. His performance at the US Open was outstanding and he persisted until the semi-finals. He was paired against
the British number one, Andy Murray and was put to rest at his hands. He beautifully summed up his triumph against  David Goffin, Sam Querrey and Federer in the earlier rounds. In the end, he waged a tough battled, but the Scot pocketed the win, 5-7, 6-2,
6-1, 7-6(7).
He proved his passion for the sport at the Davis Cup, where the Czech Republic secured their team titles after a long wait. Berdych was one of the key factors responsible for his country's glory.
From that point onwards, he seemed unstoppable, as the Czech participant qualified for relatively higher rounds of all the major tournaments. He faced the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the Shanghai
Rolex Masters, a 1000-point ATP Masters event held at the hard courts of Shanghai.
At the indoor hard courts of Stockholm, Berdych picked up an impressive pace and penned down his win, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 against the top seeded Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. He faced his second loss at the hand of the Serbian number
one, Djokovic, at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals being played at London.
