Tomas Hubocan laments Zenit St. Petersburg’s UEFA Europa League and Russian Cup exit – Football News
Zenit St. Petersburg’s defender, Tomas Hubocan, has backed his side to come back stronger next season after being denied a chance to win silverware this season including their failure to reach the later stages
of UEFA Europa League and Russian Cup respectively.
The St. Petersburg club secure an automatic qualification in the Europa League after failing to progress from the UEFA Champions League’s group stages. However, they disappointed their fans following their 1-2

Luciano Spalletti’s men were arguably favourites to win the domestic cup after their impressive performances against FC Baltika Kaliningrad and Kuban Krasnodar. However, they could not prolong their cup dream
following a 0-1 defeat against Anzhi Makhachkala.
Meanwhile, the defending league champions missed a chance to retain the league title this season, after failing to trim down CSKA Moscow’s lead at the top of the league table. As things stand, they are at the
second spot and trailing the Armeytsy by three points.
“This season has been very difficult for us. We did not perform well in the Champions League and remained unlucky not to reach final of the domestic cup. Above all we struggled to close down the gap on top of
the league table. In general, the year was tough. I hope, we will only get better next season.
“My future plans? I have never had such a dream to play in the strongest league. I just wanted to play outside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Slovakia-c3007 at a good and stable club. I got it, and now I enjoy what I am doing. I'm happy here. I
love this city, the people and the club,” Hubocan was quoted as saying.
The Slovakian football has been linked with a host of European clubs this summer including Spartak Moscow. However, Hubocan denied leaving the Russian outfit any time sooner, saying that he is happy at Petrovsky
stadium for now.
Hubocan, who joined the St. Petersburg club from MSK Zilina back in 2007, went on to assure the fans of improved performances next season.
