Tomasz Adamek: Two-week rest is all I need to recuperate from hand injury – Boxing News
Tomasz Adamek, the former IBF international and WBO NABO heavyweight champion, recently shared his thoughts about the hand injury and said that he just needs a two-week punching session break to recuperate from the freaky hand injury adding that Nagy’s head
is definitely steel since after the bout he experienced severe pain in both hands for the very first time.
Adamek and Nagy went on one-on-one in a 10-round non-title bout on Saturday March 24, 2012. Tomasz was the one who came out victorious by collecting a unanimous decision in his favour.
The ring for the bout was stretched at Aviator Sports Complex situated in Brooklyn, New York, United States and the event was headlined by the epic skirmish between Zab Judah and Vernon Paris.
Adamek has fought many impressive high-profiled bouts and recently took on Vitali Klitschko for his WBC heavyweight gold. The attempt was unsuccessful and Adamek collected his career’s second defeat, first ever by knockout.
The Polish orthodox has been in a total 47 bouts and emerged victorious in 45. He has collected 28 of his total wins by knockout and is ranked among the top heavyweight brawlers.
After his Vitali venture, the ‘Goral’ needed to make a comeback and was scheduled to bout the Dominican Nagy in a 10-round skirmish. The brawl was totally one-sided and Adamek easily won the engagement by substantial point difference.
The real problem for the Polish started after the bout when he felt severe pain in his hands. The 35-year-old’s both hands were swollen so much so that most of his associates predicted a fracture.
Adamek for the first time underwent a thorough examination conducted by Dr. Charles Malone, the country’s ace hand surgeon, and after careful and strenuous three hour diagnosis session, Tomasz was cleared from any kind of serious fractures.
While sharing his experience, Adamek stated, “The left hand was swollen big time. I had some trouble moving my fingers, but in the end all is OK, no broken bones. Two of my joint capsules ruptured in third round and because of all this hitting I like to
do in the ring, all the fluid just spread all over my fist. I need to take a two-week break from hitting the bag, and then everything will be normal. This is a freaky injury for me.”
The polish veteran praised his Saturday night opponent and said that his head is made of steel, Adamek commented, “Of course Nagy Aguilera’s head is from steel.” According to the details, Adamek will be ready for his June 16, 2012 bout which will be televised
by NBC Sports Network but at the moment he has to undergo a two-week mandatory rest.
