Tomasz Adamek says Vitali Klitschko would have beaten him even if he was five inches shorter
Tomasz Adamek, who is the former WBC world light heavyweight champion and the former IBF, IBO and the Ring magazine cruiserweight champion, has admitted the current World Boxing Council world heavyweight champion Vitali ‘Dr. Ironfist’ Klitschko was too much
for him.
Adamek recently lost to Klitschko via technical knockout on September 10, 2011 at the Municipal Stadium in Wroclaw, Poland.
It was a very dominant performance from Vitali as he remained well in control throughout the fight. Adamek on the other hand was hardly able to do any damage as he appeared panicked by the power of 6 ft 8” Ukrainian giant.
Many people think it was not a credible fight as Vitali had a lot of height advantage against Adamek. Yet the Polish combatant believes it was not the case.
Adamek told the media Vitali was in the best shape of his life whereas he was average. Adamek also admitted Vitali is the best heavyweight on the planet at the moment and he would have beaten him if he was five inches shorter.
Adamek stated in his exclusive interview at fightnews.com, “This night in Wroclaw, Vitali could have been five inches shorter and he would still defeat me, his physical qualities were just part of the equation. Simply he was great that night and I was just
average. The story ends there.”
Adamek knows many people want him to return to the cruiserweight division, as they reckon he cannot fight big guys.
Adamek remarked he is not afraid of fighting big guys at all and people will very soon see him fighting them in the ring.
“It was just one fight in my career and a special motivation. People who know me, they know what it means to me, they know how much I want to be back. I disagree. I’m not afraid of fighting the big guys and will fight them in the future. Maybe sooner than
people think,” he said.
