Tomasz Adamek says he will never go back to cruiserweight division – Boxing news
Tomasz ‘Tomek’ Adamek, who is the former World Boxing Council world light heavyweight champion, has confirmed he has no plans of going back to the cruiserweight division, as the Polish warrior reckons he has nothing more to prove at that level.
Adamek lost his fight against the current WBC world heavyweight champion, Vitali ‘Dr. Ironfist’ Klitschko recently via technical knockout.
The 6 ft 1.5” Adamek, also known as Granite chin, is known for his exceptionally sturdy chin. Yet during his fight with Klitschko, he looked completely rattled by the power of the 6 ft 8” Ukrainian giant’s jab. He was barely able to land any solid punch.
Therefore, many critics think Adamek should return to the cruiserweight division again.
However Adamek, who now holds a record of winning 44 of his 46 professional fights, with 28 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, still sees no reason of giving up. He told the media he lost to someone who is the best in the world when it comes to
the heavyweight division. Adamek insisted he will end his career as a heavyweight instead of going back.
“No reason to panic because I’ve lost one fight against best heavyweight in the world Vitali Klitschko,” Tomasz Adamek in an exclusive interview told fightnews.com.
He said, “To all who are saying that I should go back to the cruiserweight division, I have one message – it will not happen. I will end my career as a heavyweight. You still see my fighting the best. No matter how tall and big they are!”
Adamek is a former International Boxing Federation, International Boxing Organisation and the Ring magazine cruiserweight champion. Moreover, in 2009 he was ranked among the 30 best boxers in the world by the Ring Magazine. Therefore, Adamek thinks he has
nothing more to prove at the cruiserweight division.
“I have nothing more to prove as a cruiserweight, being number one “Ring” fighter in the world, winning all my fights at 200 pounds,” Adamek added.
