Tomasz Adamek takes on Travis Walker instead of James Toney – Boxing News
Tomasz Adamek, the current IBF North American heavyweight champion, will now take on Travis Walker, the current IBF Pan Pacific heavyweight champion instead of previously announced opponent James Toney, in a non-title 12-round bout which will be held on
September 8, 2012.
Adamek was originally scheduled to collide with American legend James Toney but due to unknown reasons the engagement got scrapped. Tomasz and Travis recently shared their thoughts about each other while announcing the bout.
Adamek, 35, is a Polish pounder who has been in a total of 48 bouts, boasting 46 wins with a huge 28 coming by way of knockout.
Also known as ‘The Goral’, Adamek proudly secures the third spot in World boxing Organisation’s heavyweight rankings just after the Klitschko duo. Adamek is considered as one of the best pounders in the sport of boxing.
The veteran has put forth the boxing fans some very interesting and explosive bouts in fact is well known for being an entertaining pugilist among the boxing fanatics. Adamek’s only two losses came by the fists of two legendary brawlers Vitali Klitschko
and Chad Dawson.
Apart from the above two, no man has ever been able to overwhelm the huge pounder. During the media interaction, Tomasz who always follows a humble down-to-earth stance stated, “I like Travis as an opponent because he is a tough fighter and all his fights
are interesting. Every fight he fights is for the fans, like me. I have fought at Prudential Center eight times and I am excited to come back to give my fans a good fight and another exciting win.”
Walker, 33, is a pretty confident and talented pugilist but stands no chance at all in front of the Goral. Travis has been in a total of 47 bouts, boasting 39 wins with 31 collected by knocking the opponents out cold.
While putting forth his thoughts the future prospect in a confident manner commented, “Adamek thinks that I will be an easy win for him, but he will be greatly surprised at the combination of finesse, strength and power that I will utilize in this fight.
I'm going to stop him, period.”
As far as the ratings for the bout is concerned, the clash will not be an energetic one. No matter what Walker says or boasts, he is nowhere to be found in front of the Polish pugilist.
For Adamek, Walker is just another opponent ready to be nailed in order to remain fit and be in form whereas for Walker the bout is of great significance. A win over Adamek will certainly catapult Walker in the top ranks and most probably might also place
him in the world title contention scenario.
