Tomasz wins 7th stage and Guilaume retains overall lead in 2011 International Tour De Martinique
USSA Pavilly Barentin team’s Tomasz Olejnik showed his good effort and won the seventh stage of 2011 International Tour de Martinique on Friday, July 15. Guilaume Malle maintained his overall leader’s jersey.
The race started in Trois Ilets and ended in Saint Esprit. Tomasz took a total of 3 hours, 9 minutes and 20 seconds to cover the distance of 128 kilometres.
Masaru Fukuhara of Bridgestone Anchor was the runner-up. Willy Roseau of Selection Martinique finished in the third spot with a difference of 59 seconds.
Marc Flavien (Selection Martinique), Boris Carene (Selection Guadeloupe) and Guilaume Malle (Veranda Rideau Sarthe) were in fourth, fifth and sixth places, respectively.
Jacobus Hereijers of Global Cycling Team Hollande was in good form and also tried his best to catch the leading cyclists, but failed to increase his pace and grabbed the 17th place with a difference of 1 minute and 27 seconds, ahead of Frederic Theobald
and Kenny Darmyn.
A group of eighth cyclists made their first breakaway and took a lead, which included Martial Gene (Sélection Guadeloupe), Tomasz Olejnik (USSA Pavilly Barentin), Masaru Fukuhara (Team Bridgestone Anchor), Romain Cardis (Veranda Rideau Sarthe) and Boris
Carene (Sélection Guadeloupe).
All of them worked together and built a lead of few seconds, Masaru Fukuhara and Tomasz Olejnik launched the attack, but Selection Guadeloupe's rider, Martial, was in good form so he took the mountain standing of the stage with 18 points.
However, Cedric Eushtache took the overall King of Mountain title with 162 points ahead of Jose Alexender Roa (CESMA) and Boris Carene (Selection Guadeloupe).
Veranda Rideau Sarthe's rider, Guilaume Malle, retained his overall lead with a timing of 22 hours, 43 minutes and 9 seconds. Marc Flavien was in second place with 1 minute and 35 seconds behind Malle.
Boris Carene of Selection Guadeloupe finished third with a difference of 3 minutes and 22 seconds ahead of Willy Roseau.
The next stage will start in Saint Esprit and end in Riviere Pilote. All riders will cover the distance of 99 kilometres.
