Tomato Salmonella outbreak: Can't they just sell the leftover crops to?

canned food companies, ketchup manufacutres, or tomato sauce makers, who boil and remove the skins of tomatos anyway?

From my understanding most of the contamination is in the skin, and if you boil the tomatos it will kill everything.

  1. No if the food is found to be contaminated it will be destroyed.I heard it was 40 million dollar crops sitting in warehouses.That is a hugh problem for the farmer.In fact its a putting out of business hit.


  2. you'd think so. but I'll bet someone is making a LOT of money off of these scares. Spinach, tomatoes, it will probably hit something else next. Just watch, they will figure out some way to scare people out of eating veggies altogether so that they can process foods that dull our senses and keep people docile....
