Question:

Tomato plant has wilted at the top but looks fine at the bottom help please!?

its a yellow tomato plant, it was growing fine unitll about a week ago, now all the top leaves have wilted and died they dont show signs of blight, could it be a watering problem?? please help!!!

  1. all mine have shriveled up and look like they are hugging the plant(the leaves). my book says its perfectly normal and they did the same last year and i got a good crop of them. I water and feed them regularly enough. hope you get a good crop of them and they pull through..


  2. It is quite hard to kill a tomato plant - it could be watering - is the soil very wet or very dry?  Try wiggling you finger into the soil as that is where the roots are - not on the surface that gets dried out quickly by the sun every day!

    If you have any side branches which look healthy and you really think the existing plant is about to give up the ghost - you can cut a couple of them off (flat up against the existing stem) and plant them, it/they will root within about a week and you will have a completely new plant!

  3. tomato apical wilt or tomato spotted wilt virus come to mind if the soil is damp.
