  1. No, no one can answer this question because there are too many variables....temperature, water, age of the plant and fruit etc.  Most tomatoe plants produce fruit continuously, so there are fruits at all stages of development.  One way to tell they are getting close is obviously color; they will start to turn pink(red tomatoes) when they begin to ripen.  Then, it is a matter of temps, time, water, light, etc. before they fully ripen.  I don't know where you live, but here in Minnesota the season is coming to an end, and most tomatoes that are going to ripen well on the vine, have done so.

  2. A few days at the most. Need to check them daily.

  3. .If it's your first time growing tomatoes they appear to stay green forever. Then you notice that one is turning yellow and within a day or so it is red. The others follow and before you know it you have dozens and you don't know what to do with so many.

In my case the ripening starts just after I've bought some.

Don't forget that yours will taste much better than any that you buy.

"Enjoy!" as they say in those awful trendy pubs.

  4. Hi!

Depends a bit on the type of tomato and when you planted them.

Some earlies will ripen in approx. 60 days and some late varieties as long as 120.

They only ripen in the dark and need their leaves for "sunburn" protection. They tend to start to look very pale just before they ripen.

I've planted late and had a Thanksgiving crop-hang in there it WILL happen!
