Tominator to dominate Golden Square Shopping Centre Warrington Handicap at Chester
It is quite easy to make a case for half the field for Saturday’s Golden Square Shopping Centre Warrington Handicap, but the suggestion is Tominator, who was second here in last year’s Listed Race.
The 5-year-old was an unlucky loser last time out. Reg Hollinshead’s charge could easily have made his presence felt in last week’s Ebor at York. But the unlucky runner failed terribly, and could only seize the eighth place in the Betfred Ebor (Heritage
Handicap).
He held up towards rear in the beginning, but made smooth progress afterwards. Owned by Mrs Susy Haslehurst, the gelding stayed on well inside the final furlong, but never reached the front row.
It was Tominator’s third consecutive defeat this season. Things are not going to plan these days, but this event might be his opportunity to break the shackles. The sweet memories of last August’s fine act are still fresh, and the bettors can take a chance
on him, hoping that the dashing runner will replicate what he did last season.
The son of Generous has recorded four wins so far in his career. He has many things in favour, but an impeccable performance is still required to get the better of today’s strong opposition.
On good to soft, 14 runners, including Tominator, will compete for a handsome cash prize worth £19,849. For those who have issues with stamina, it will be a tough journey, as the class 1 meeting will be run over 1-mile, five furlongs and 89 yards. According
to the current plan, the action will get started at 14:30 GMT.
Communicator will be the centre of attention following his superb win here earlier this month. In the class 2 Grosvenor Shopping Centre Handicap, Andrew Balding’s trainee showed a flawless performance, and notched up the first rank by staggering nine lengths.
After such a comprehensive win, it is hard to underestimate his chances in today’s meeting. The conditions are more testing this time, thus Communicator needs to be careful.
Tominator and Communicator are all set for an exciting battle. The former handles the soft surface quite nicely, and should be preferred. Good luck to all the horses.
