Tommaso D’Orsogna and Kenneth To win Men’s 100m freestyle gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Tommaso D’Orsogna and Kenneth To of Australia won gold medal of Men’s 100m freestyle on opening day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar on Saturday, October 6.
After the conclusion of first stop of the world Cup series in Dubai, the crowd cherished phenomenal efforts of D’Orsogna and To, who ended their swims in a joint finish for gold medal.
Both Australian swimmers demonstrated their astonishing efforts in the four-lap freestyle discipline and transpired on the finishing end for the title. To dominated the first half of the race and remained prominent for first position but his efforts were
matched by D’Orsogna in the second half and they both finished first.
With their impeccable pace, the Australian duo remained marginally ahead of their following swimmer and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal by producing a time of 47.10 seconds.
The champion was followed by Anthony Ervin of USA, who stayed 0.07 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall for third position by producing an effort of 47.17 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Kyle Richardson of Australia, who remained 0.40 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall for fourth position by clocking an effort of 47.57 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Darian Townsend of South Africa, who suffered a deficit of only 0.01 seconds from his former finisher and clocked a time 47.58 seconds.
Townsend was followed by Zhaochen Liu of China, who stayed nearly 0.70 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 48.24 seconds for sixth position.
Liu was followed by Wenjie Pu of China, who stayed 0.50 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall for seventh place with an effort of 48.74 seconds.
Pu was traced by Cameron Simpson of New Zealand, who stayed nearly half body length apart and emerged on the finishing end for eighth position by clocking a time of 49.38 seconds.
In addition, D’Orsogna and To were contented with their gold winning efforts in the freestyle discipline and articulated their desire of continuing the same at forthcoming swimming events.
