Tommaso D’Orsogna clinches Men’s 100m freestyle gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Tommaso D’Orsogna of Australia clinched gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle on foremost day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday, October 13.
The Australian swimmer demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the four-lap freestyle discipline as he ensured his place on top of the victory stand for gold medal.
He stayed just an inch ahead of his closest competitor and transpired on the finishing blockade for gold medal by producing a nice time of 47.05 seconds.
The champion was followed by his compatriot, Kenneth To, who stayed 0.19 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher by reporting a time of 47.24 seconds.
The silver medallist was traced by Kyle Richardson of Australia, who was 0.09 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end as third position holder by clocking an effort of 47.33 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the race was secured by Anthony Ervin of USA, who suffered a loss of only 0.17 seconds from his foregoing finisher and settled on the wall with an effort of 47.50 seconds.
Subsequently, Ervin enjoyed an advantage of half body length over his following swimmer, Stefan Nystrand, who tapped the wall with a timing of 48.04 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth best spot of the race was obtained by Jason Dunford of Kenya, who was 0.15 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 48.19 seconds.
Dunford was traced by Fernando Santos of Brazil, who stayed 0.02 seconds slower from upsetting his former finisher. Santos was just a touch apart and emerged on the wall as seventh best finisher by submitting a time of 48.21 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Ricardo Oliveira of Brazil, who stayed 0.19 seconds away and surfaced on the wall as eighth position holder with a timing of 48.40 seconds.
In addition, D’Orsogna was pleased with his astonishing form in the 100m discipline and stressed that he will continue his hard work in future in order to please his fans by achieving the same at upcoming events.
