The chief executive officer at Parma has lashed back at the comments made by the head coach of AS Roma, who stated that the turf at Tardini did not favour his team.
The midweek matches were preceded by heavy rainfall in many parts of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 which led to claims that many of the matches might be postponed due to unplayable conditions. However, the matches in Italy are generally played and there are rare occasions when
the matches are called off or postponed.
Despite the fact that many train stations were closed due to the weather, the matches continued, but they did start a little later than the scheduled time. The match between AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and Parma was affected by this. The Giallorossi were travelling away to
face the Gialloblu outfit at the Tardini stadium, in what were challenging conditions to play in.
The pitch was not suitable for quick and sharp passes; and furthermore the ball used to hold up in the puddles that developed due to the rain; with the football sticking in place rather than coming onto the feet. The ball was stuck in the pitch on certain
occasions and it proved to be decisive later on.
This led to complaints by the former Pescara boss who complained that the pitch did not allow them to play proper football and they had to rely on long speculative passes. He had gone on to criticise the state of the pitch and felt that it favoured the home
side more.
President Tommaso Ghirardi has gone on to retort to the claims made by the veteran tactician and remarked that had the pitch been dry, it would have suited the Gialloblu style of play. He went on to congratulate his team for an impressive showing, and reserved
special praise for Roberto Donadoni, and commented:
“Yesterday we put in an impressive performance and in fact a dry turf would’ve favoured us even more, because we do well with pace on the counter-attack. It was a tough showing against a strong side. We are satisfied with what we are doing, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294
Donadoni’s work and that of all the lads.”
The lead puts the Tardini outfit ahead of Roma in the Serie A standings.
