Tommy Bowe praises Ospreys' Kahn Fotuali'i performance during Heineken Cup encounter against Biarritz – Rugby News
Swansea based Welsh professional Rugby Union outfit, Ospreys' winger, Tommy Bowe, has praised the efforts of their new international scrum half, Kahn Fotuali'i, during their opening match
of the 2011/12 Heineken Cup competition. Samoan international Scrum half Fotuali'i joined Ospreys at the start of the 2011/12 season. He will take part in both RaboDirect Pro 12 and Heineken Cup competitions for the club.
Ospreys has kick started their 2011/12 Heineken Cup competition with a 7 point victory over the French professional Rugby Union club, Biarritz Olympus. Ospreys hosted Biarritz in their first
match of the 2011/12 European knockout competition with a 28 – 21 victory at Liberty Stadium, Swansea on Saturday, November 12.
Tommy Bowe scored the only try in the match for the Ospreys and he credits Fotuali'i for the move, which finished with him scoring the try. Fotuali'I received the ball and chip kicked it and
recovered it before moving out a pass to Bowe, who ended up scoring a try in the 62nd minute of the game.
Bowe has praised Fotuali'i efforts in the game and expressed his confidence that Fotuali'i will be good for the club in the remaining games of the seasons and play a major role in the club’s
success in both domestic and European competiti0on. He made these comments while talking to the officials of the thisisouthwales.
Bowe termed Fotuali'i as a "top class" player. He praised the talented halfback’s skills and abilities. He said, “Kahn is electric, a player who makes things out of nothing. The more he settles
the more he's going to be a firm favourite around here.”
The Auckland born Fotuali'i started his professional Rugby Union career with New Zealand provincial Rugby Union club, Tasman in 2004. Later in 2010, he switched to join Hawke’s Bay.
The 29-year-old Fotuali'i made his Super Rugby debut for New Zealand Super Rugby franchise Crusaders in 2008. He made his international debut for Samoa in 2010. He was part of Samoa’s 2011
Rugby World Cup 30-man squad. He made his debut against Japan and finished as Man of the Match, which he earned through his match-winning try during their 13 – 10 victory over Japan.
Ospreys head coach, Jonathan Humphreys, has supported Bowe's comments about their recently hired international scrum half. He particularly singled out Fotuali'i’s fighting spirit during the
closing moments of the game, which denied Biarritz from registering any more points on the scorecard.
Jonathan Humphreys has expressed his excitement on securing the services of Fotuali'i. He termed Fotuali'i’s as great player and a competitor. He further added, “If you just isolated the last
ten minutes of that game, you could see a kid who is desperate to compete and desperate to win.”
