I myself prefer Black Sheep, even though it's generally regarded as the inferior of the two.

  1. Yeah, "Tommy Boy" is an all-timer.  "Black Sheep" was mildly amusing if you REALLY liked Chris Farley.

"I wonder if her boyfriend plays for the Yankees"

    "That ...... was ....... AWESOME"

"That's great it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes and aeroplanes, Lenny Bruce is not afraid.  Eye of the hurricane, listen to yourself turn.  ehhh .... mehhh ...... ehhhhh"

  2. I love them both, but as was mentioned Tommy Boy is the more quoted of the two.  I personally couldn't decide.  I was a huge Chris Farley fan.

  3. I like and own both, but I have always preferred TOMMY BOY. Nothing against BLACK SHEEP, I just think TOMMY BOY is funnier.

They are pretty similar movies in style, formula, and even jokes.  TOMMY BOY came out first and was slightly more successful so I give it the slight edge. I think BLACK SHEEP was made and released right after based on the success of the first.

Both plotlines are pretty ridiculous but I feel TOMMY BOY is better and more entertaining - it even has a little emotion (his dad's death, romance with the girl) mixed in with the comedy so it seems better to me.

Also, Chris Farley is hilarious in both films, as usual, but I feel that David Spade is funnier in TOMMY BOY and that the other supporting cast of TOMMY BOY (Brian Dennehy, Rob Lowe, Dan Akroyd) was better than the rest of the cast in BLACK SHEEP (Tim Matheson, Gary Busey, etc).

I like both and would watch either one, but if given a choice I would definitely take  TOMMY BOY.

Plus, TOMMY BOY has so many more quotable lines and more memorable scenes.

  4. Tommy Boy

  5. I prefer Tommy Boy because you can't get much better than "Tommy want wingy!"

Unless it's "Fat guy in a little coat...!"

But Black Sheep isn't really inferior, it just happened to be the last of the two that I watched.

Chris Farley and David Spade = one of the best duos in SNL history.  Their best skit is the "Matt Foley Motivation Speaker" in which Farley accidentally breaks the coffee table and Spade is trying not to laugh...and I got off track...  Point is--I love anything with the two of them in it.

  6. Tommy Boy is a classic, People are still quoting lines from that years after that movie came out

  7. tommy boy!!!

  8. Both good movies

But I would go with Black Sheep

  9. i always loved black sheep sooo daft its great ...and sorry but prefered it over tommy boy [a tiny smidge] but still love tommy boy

seriously though nothing tops farleys freaking irrate bus driver in billy maddison ....and the scene with "that is correct " sooooo wrong but oh so funny

but he'd done all great films before his death RIP FARLEY
