Tommy Lee leaves Wakefield Trinity Wildcats to join Huddersfield Giants – Rugby League transfers
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ Tommy Lee has joined the Huddersfield Giants on a one-year contract on Wednesday, October 19. This news has surfaced right after Kyle Wood’s move from the Giants to Wildcats on Tuesday.
Lee still had a year remaining on his deal with Trinity when he decided to go ahead with his new deal with Giants. While talking to BBC Radio, the Wildcats’ hooker, stated, "With the type of team they are I thought it would be a good move. The coach's track
record with players in my position is good and he's made a few into internationals. Any type of improvement will only benefit me as a player, and they're a team full of internationals so playing and training with better people each day can only improve me."
When inquired by reporters about his latest move, the soon to be Giants’ hooker answered that Huddersfield keep changing their franchise configuration, which has provided him with an opportunity too good to miss.
When the prop was asked about how difficult it has been for him to go ahead with the decision and he he acknowledged that it has been a difficult choice because he still had a year left on his contract with Wildcats. Pulling himself out of the remaining
contract, the hooker is still aspiring to bag silverware for his side before he signs off from Wildcats.
Looking forward, Lee said, "Every player wants to win things and that's what excited me about the offer. They're a top-four team and when they keep all the players fit they're going to be challenging for trophies and hopefully I can be a part of that."
Huddersfield coach, Nathan Brown, is also eager to have the player on board. Brown said that he sees in Lee potential similar to that of Luke Robinson and Shaun Lunt, who were players with huge potential at Giants. While comparing the toughness and competitiveness,
which has taken them to new levels, the coach acknowledged that he sees the similar potential in him.
Lee also admitted that he is extremely happy with this offer which will grant him an opportunity to work with Nathan Brown.
