Tommy Stack admits Clancy Avenue will be under pressure in Paddy Power Sprint – Horseracing News
Tommy Stack admits that Clancy Avenue will not find it easy to deliver a strong result in the Paddy Power Sprint at Curragh in Ireland.
The three-year-old colt was unable to make an impression in his most recent race, thus he will be under immense pressure at the moment. Moreover, he will be up against some fierce competitors, which will not make life easy for
him.
According to Stack, “I don't know what happened at Haydock, whatever it was nothing has shown up. Maybe he didn't get much cover and ran too free so we'll see how we get on this weekend. It will be tough mind, he's only three taking
on hardened sprinters.”
Clancy Avenue has participated in a total of nine races, but managed to succeed in just one of them. This clearly shows that he does not have the confidence to take on his rivals at the highest level. He needs a lot of time to
prepare and his camp needs to realise that fact. If he continues taking part in such races and fails to make an impression in them, his confidence will be dented badly.
The American challenger started off the 2013 season on a positive note, winning his first of the year. He followed that up with a couple of back-to-back runner up places, which proved that he had improved a lot compared to the
previous year. Despite that, he was unable to make his team proud, when he was sent into a competitive race.
On the other hand, Yeeoow is another challenger lined up for the Paddy Power Sprint, expected to make a comeback after a disappointing run last time around. His assistant trainer Karl Burke said, “He's in great form now and did
a good piece of work last Friday when he worked very well. The ground should be perfect for him, a stiff six furlongs is ideal and I think that he has a big chance.”
The four-year-old gelding was victorious at Ascot recently, but he did not meet the expectations of his camp in his most recent race. Therefore, he has not managed to get the attention of the punters, but it will a mistake to rule
him out completely.
