Question:

Tomorrows the big day...i need help for tonight!?

My first day of high school is tomorrow. I am super-nervous, and I know that it will affect my falling asleep. How can I get my mind off my jitters and on to getting a good night's rest?

  1. I was like that when I first set foot in my high school.But now I actually do feel silly for worrying and being so anxious and nervous. But you'll be fine don't worry. As long as you stay out of trouble though. The jitters are normal. But again, I will assure you, you will be fine.


  2. count sheep! lol.. but seriously. whenever i need to go to bed and im thinking about something.. or just anxious i count in my head.. until i fall asleep. you just have to really concentrate and close your eyes. works every time. good luck!

  3. Shut off your computor, read a slow-paced book (NOT in bed), and then go directly to sleep. If you can't sleep, don't try fighting it. Get up. Go downstairs. Eat a banana. I read once that they have the same kind of ingredients in them as warm milk does, which also helps you sleep, so try one of the two, or even both, but NOT together, hopefully! GROSS! Ha!

    I would suggest not using melatonin unless you have permission from an adult to buy it. I take that, but it's a sleeping pill, you know. But if you take that, read the directions first!

  4. You are going to be nervous. Then tomorrow when you get there and see how easy it is to be there..you will feel silly for worrying.

    Listen sweetie...you aren't afraid of school.  You are afraid of the unknown.  Put out your clothes and think about what you are going to do  Visualize everything so when tomorrow comes you will know automatically what you are going to do.

    You are going to get up...get some breakfast...take a shower ...get dressed....make sure you have all your school supplies and backpack...get your lunch or money...go to school..find your homeroom and seat !  Or however you want to do it.  

    When you are familiar with THAT MUCH of a routine...you will be fine!

  9. Just don't think about it. Relax, drink some water, read a little to get your mind off it. If you keep thinking about school, it'll only make you nervous and keep you up. Clear your mind of it, and just fall asleep like your normally do. If you really can't, try sleeping pills or playing a lullaby or something that soothes you.

  11. Get all your supplies ready. Pack your backpack/purse (whatever you have). Plan your lunch. Plan your outfit.

    Have a warm cup of tea (unless you have a weak bladder, then maybe skip the tea or else you'll be up peeing all night). Put on a nice face mask and take a bath.

    ...Set your alarm!
