The 22-year-old completed his medical on Saturday and trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Monday.
Tongo Doumbia was close to signing for Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion, but the deal fell through in the end. However, the former Chateauroux player has finally sealed his dream move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 after Stade Rennais agreed to let him leave on a
season-long loan.
Wolves are set to face Shrewsbury Town in a pre-season friendly match, and Tongo Doumbia is hoping to play some part in the game.
While talking to reporters, the 21-year-old expressed his desire to feature in tonight’s friendly game but admitted that it’s up to the manager to decide about that. The Mali international stated that even though the match has come a little early for him,
he wants to play nonetheless.
“It’s up to the manager but I think I am ready to play tonight even if it’s just a short time.”
On a question of his style of play, Doumbia stated that he is a typical central midfielder who runs a lot in the game and tries to score goals when possible. The Malian said that his style of play is more suitable for English football and he hopes to adapt
to the new conditions as early as possible.
“I like to get from box to box but I also like to move forward with the ball and try and score goals,” he said.
Tongo Doumbia stated that he is excited to be playing for Wolves and he will give everything for his new side. The 22-year-old said that his main objective is to help the club get back in the Premier League.
“I am also a strong player and like to battle as well and will give everything I have for the Wolves shirt and for the club.
The Mali international was an integral part of Rennes last season. Doumbia managed to make 25 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit scoring couple of goals in the process.
