Question:

Tongue Piercing--Advice Please?

Well, I've been really thinking about getting my tongue pierced. People that I know have told me that it does not hurt at all, during the procedure, but that after it swells up. The only thing I am afraid of is the piercer doing something wrong. I can take pain though. I've had my nose pierced before, but I know it does not compare to the tongue. Any of you that have your tongues pierced out there, can you tell me how it was when you got it done? I'm also hearing that certain people cant get their tongues pierced because of the way their veins are under their tongue. What do you think? Should I do it? I'm really wanting to. It's different and plus I can hide it from my boss. Any advice would help. Thanks

  1. why not try getting your forehead peirced straight through to your brain im sure that wont hurt you a bit.p.s. i miss you.

  2. I HAVE BOTH MY NOSE AND TOUNGE PIERCED AND LET ME TELL YOU MY NOSE HURT WAY MORE THAN THE TOUNGE HONESTLY THE TOUNGE DIDNT EVEN HURT.YOU BARELY FEEL IT..AND COMING FROM ME IM A CRY BABY hehe NO BUT SERIOUSLY IT DOSNT HURT AT ALL.ONLY AFTER YOU GET IT DONE MABEY UNTIL 3 DAYS AFTER ITS JUST A LIL SORE.YOU SHOULD GET IT DONE.ITS NOTHING =)

  3. well honestly i know this girl and she went to a body piercer to get her tongue done it cost 55 and that night it started to swell where she couldn't talk and it was getting worst  so she went to the hospital and they told her it was infected and they had to remove it so they did and it cost 1500 so i would think about it but not everyone is the same but just remember they can be the best piercers in the world but something can always go wrong! like i got both of my tragus pierced aug 28 my left one is fine and my right one was inflamed and its sore but im taking care of it and everything just think any piercing can get infected soon as you get it done!

all piercings hurt no matter what you get done some hurt a lot more then others and plus it depends on your pain tolerance and i know some people that got there tongue done and they said it hurt like h**l and they wouldn't ever get it done again and some of them had it for 4 yrs and they can take it out for like a 4 months and put it back in cause they have like 10g and 12g cause its starched! i mean its up to you if you want it done! plus you got to watch cause if your veins are close together some piercers won't pierce you at all!

  4. Well, like people said it doesn't feel like anything during the piercing -- just a quick pinch. Then for about a week or so your tongue swells up pretty bad, you can't eat anything except liquidy/cold foods such as yogurt, jello, pudding, ice cream, popsicles, etc. It takes a lot of getting used to, I couldn't eat properly for a month because my piercing kept getting in the way. It also messed my teeth up and my dentist urged me to take it out before it did any further damage. That's my experience :)

  5. I didn't even realize the needle was through until the artist was reaching for the jewelry. The clamps kinda suck, and you usually drool on yourself from having your tongue out, but most piercers will give you a dental bib to stop you from having a wet spot on your shirt when you leave.

The swelling can last from a few days to two weeks. You will have longer jewelry in for that time. You will need to go back to the piercer and have your jewelry downsized after two weeks to protect your teeth (and it's much more comfortable)

Some people do have a large vein running down the center of their tongue, some can be pierced at a bit of an angle, but there are some that can't be pierced in the center at all (those are rare). You will need to consult with a piercer in person to find out for sure. Most tongues are pierce-able.
