Tongue pain after tonsillectomy?

I just got my tonsils out this morning. I have been napping all day and on pain medicine of course, so I waited until now to go look in the mirror after complaining about my tongue all day. There is a huge white spot on the left side. And it is swollen in that area with more pain earlier today than my throat caused. What is going on and should I wake up my mom to tell her??

It could be something left over from where they cut during the surgery such as a piece of tissue (an example only) but I would recommend waking your mom up (if in the middle of the night) to let her know what's going on.
