Tongue piercing.....details please!?

i would like to get my tongue pierced at some point, im not too bothered about the pain, im more interested in things like how it feels when you eat (after its healed) does it get in the way? does it become unoticable after a while? does it ever catch on your teeth and hurt? i just want to basically know what its like to live with.... also does anyone know the price in uk for the piercing?

Your tongue swells the night after you get it done, and you don't really feel very different the next morning, you only really notice when you look at it. It'll be around twice it's normal size. It'll make you sound kinda drunk when you talk, and you'll only want to eat food that doesn't need much chewing, eg soup, noodles, ice cream :) If you smoke it hurts a little bit, but contrary to popular belief alcohol won't make it swell up. It's weird having to learn how to talk and eat again, but after a couple of days it'll be fine and after a week or two you can get the bar changed to a shorter one and you won't notice it's there. I've never caught mine on my teeth or anything.

It should cost about £25/30, that includes the two bars as well.

it doesnt hurt at all after its healed . i dont even feel anything anymore .

basically, you can expect to eat soft foods for about 3 days to a week. it feels a little weird at first, especially the first few days. you will talk like there is food in your mouth, and you might have trouble saying certain letters like "S". it won't get in the way of anything once you are used to it, and i actually usually forget mine is even there. it never catches on my teeth or make them hurt, but sometimes if you play with it, it can chip and damage your teeth, so if you are considering a tongue ring, be careful about that.. also, while it is healing, and swollen, try extra hard not to bite your tongue. painful. other than that, everything else is good :)

i pierce in a tattoo shop, and have my tongue done, pain isnt to bad, it will swell up and be sore, but thats the worse part... after it heals, it starts to become a part of you, when eatin u might get something hung on it, and yes  its possible to bit the bottom ball if u have a longer ring in( usually the one they pierce you with) once  the swellin goes down, purchase a shorter post, that way it sits flush with your tounge..but u wont even realize u have it after time.. ive had mine about 4 years, and still till this day  i'll move my tongue and say to myself, oh wow a got a tongue ring.....   i know in the states  avg piercing is about $40...
