i asked this question a lil less than an hour ago but only got 1 answer and i was wondering if i could get some more input? The skin that is connected to my tongue comes out about a half inch before the tip of my tongue. I was wondering if anyone has had their tongue pierced a little to the side but still in the middle of your tongue (next to the skin that's connected to your tongue)?? I know you have major veins in your tongue, and i looked under my tongue and my 2 major veins are not directly next to the skin that's connected to my tongue.

  1. the skin under your tongue is called your "webbing" you can Pierce you tongue and you webbing, ive had them both. if your webbing is to far out to the tip of your tongue, you many not want to get it done. you are already tongue tied, and getting  your tongue pierced is going to make your mouth more smaller and you will talk differently. you do not have a normal tongue,  some people opt to get their webbing shaved back farther, but this is also risky. if i were you, i would ask them to peirce your tongue at an angle, so the tongue ring is father on top, than under your tongue, but be careful because this can cause you to chip your teeth, from having a metal ring in so close, go for a PTF  ring, its plastic, and approved by the ADA (american dental assoc.)

but you cannot pierce with PTF, you must wait until all signs of infection is gone.

you only need to worry about the two veins you mentioned before, and make sure, they are not in jeopardy of getting infection in to your blood stream, you can get very sick if the vein is ruptured.

also if you decide to get it done, and you do not like it, i want you to wait until the swelling goes down, if you take the ring out and infection starts, its going right into your blood, and you will get sick from the infection. its easy to take care of, and the swelling does not last long, i ate the same day i got mine done. just remember, if it does not work out, its not forever,  good luck, and i hope this time someone has answered your question, i love piercings, i have 11 of them.i also have 7 tattoos. i think modifying your body is so personal, and tells a little of who you are.

  2. You can get it done that way, its just a bit riskier.  Go to a good, reputable shop in your area and show your tongue to the piercer.  In the end, its up to them.  However, if you don't like the answer keep looking until you find someone capable enough to do it.  Trust me, you don't want a nervous piercer sticking things through your tongue anyways!
