Toni Elias feels no pressure for Catalunya GP with new 2011 chassis – MotoGP news
LCR Honda team rider Toni Elias has been provided with a new 2011 chassis for his Honda machine for the upcoming event, Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya on June 5, 2011.
The Spaniard has been struggling to find more traction from the rear-end of his bike and has managed to improve a little. However, he has not managed an impressive finish yet.
Honda satellite team rider, Toni Elias said, “In the last three rounds we have found some small improvements but my overall package is not perfect yet so we will continue our set up work to take a step further on my home soil. I want to thank Honda for their
support so far and for the new 2011 chassis they gave us for this weekend. I will do my best to obtain the best result for me, the team and my fans.”
Elias and San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Hiroshi Aoyama are the only riders to use the Honda satellite machines in this season. Aoyama is also struggling at seventh place on the points table where as Elias leans at 14th place.
2010 Moto2 World Champion, Toni Elias has made his premier class comeback after a season’s break. Since his return to the MotoGP category, the Spaniard has been hovering far down on the points table and could not climb his way up.
In the past four rounds, he has not been able to qualify better than 16th position and his best finish for the 2011 season is ninth place at the season’s first Spanish event held at Jerez. In the season opener round at the Losail circuit, Qatar,
Elias retired after 18 laps due to an accident.
Elias added, “Honestly my situation is not the one I was expecting for my home race but I am not worried about that. I do not feel the pressure: I just want to continue my progression trying to fix the bike step by step.”
The Spaniard is trying to progress for better results and feels no pressure of the competition. In the last season, the LCR Honda rider was riding with Randy de Puniet and was placed at fourth position in the points table after four events. De Puniet is
now in 17th place on the 2011 points table with the Pramac Ducati team.
