The Argentinean maestro, Lionel Messi, recently signed a new contract with La Blaugrana but after his 90-goal haul with the Catalan giants in a single calendar year, the club decided to offer him a new contract, which gives him around 16 million Euros a
year.
On the other hand, Xavi Hernandez has also proven himself on every ground. Even though his previous contract stated that he had to appear for more than half the games for this season in order to get a new contract, he was offered a new contract despite not
appearing for that much number of games.
His season has been phenomenal and therefore, the club decided to give him a new contract so that he can stay with them in the future.
Thirdly, Carles Puyol, who has been getting injured a lot lately; he was expected not to sign a new contract for La Blaugrana, but they did eventually tied him for the future.

While speaking about these three players, Barcelona’s spokesperson, Toni Freixa stated that these three are the pillars of the club and it was necessary to tie them down for the future.
