The media person from the Catalan capital has stressed that if such incidents go unpunished, there is likeability for them to occur more often.
Barcelona’s spokesperson for the Board of Directors, Toni Freixa, has insisted that the Spanish Football Federation have made a mistake by pardoning Real Madrid head coach, Jose Mourinho, following the eye-poke incident in last year’s Spanish Super Cup final.
The Madrid boss was found embroiled in a rather non-preferable situation during last season's Spanish Super Cup final, as the Portuguese coach was caught on camera, poking Barca’s Tito Vilanova in the eye.
Matters got a bit out of hand during the encounter between the two Spanish giants, as the referee had to stop play after an outburst between the players.
Apparently, Madrid’s Mesut Ozil and Barca’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 reached out for each other’s throat following an exchange of verbal offences. This resulted in players from both teams becoming involved in a fight.
As things were heating up, Mourinho was found poking Pep Guardiola’s assistant coach in the eye.
The match finished with the Catalans emerging victorious; however, it left memories of an ugly encounter between the two sides.
The Spanish Football Federation, the RFEF, announced that action will be taken against the individuals involved in the fight. The Blancos boss was brought under specific attention as his ‘eye-poke’ was condemned all over the country.
As a result, the former Porto manager was handed a two-match touchline ban. However, recent developments saw the veteran tactician pardoned by the RFEF, following his official apology.
In response to this, Toni Freixa has maintained that his club is against the decision taken by the ruling organization in the country.
While talking to reporters, the Spaniard was quoted as saying:
“A reprieve does not make a man who commits a crime innocent. However, it does give you the feeling that the person may carry on doing it. It sets a bad example for football."
According to the spokesperson, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604’s Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday to look into the matter and possibly object to the decision taken by the RFEF.
