The Bayern Munich midfielder showers praise on Borussia Monchengladbach for registering a thumping win over his side on Friday.
As Bayern Munich suffered badly at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach at the season’s restart on Friday, January 20, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toni-Kroos-c35425 has hailed the Foals for their attacking skills. He admitted that his team deserved to lose and
criticised Bayern’s lack of finishing in the game.
Kroos added that Bayern tried to adopt a different approach to the game, but were unsuccessful due to some resilient defending by the home side. He mentioned that the Reds lacked flare throughout the game, and were guilty of conceding
possession. The attacking midfielder also lashed out at his team’s forward line which was unable to create any impact on the home side’s defence as all their shots were easily blocked.
While talking to the official Bundesliga website, the 22-year-old further insisted:
“We set ourselves up differently. We wanted to avoid going behind early on, but sometimes it happens. We had some good periods of possession and put some decent moves together, but we couldn't find a way through and our shooting
didn't cause them too many problems.”
On the other hand, the German international also reserved praise for Gladbach’s attacking abilities. He stated that the Foals have an extraordinary ability to turn defence into attack, and the side has players who have great pace
to serve the purpose. He opined that the Bavarians conceded an early goal against the run of play which made it difficult for Bayern to comeback from that deficit.
“We gave the ball away too easily and they scored, which is difficult to come back from. Gladbach's strength is their speed at turning defence into attack. You can't afford to give the ball away cheaply against them,” he concluded.
Bayern, though, are still atop the league table but only due to a superior goal difference to Borussia Dortmund and Schalke. Both the other title contenders won their respective games to get level on points with the Bavarian giants.
On the other side, Gladbach, are on the fourth spot, one point adrift of Dortmund, Schalke and Bayern.
