Tonio Liuzzi, Daniel Ricciardo’s race seat for Indian Grand Prix under jeopardy at HRT – Formula 1
Hispania Racing Team recently revealed that their race driver Narain Karthikeyan is going to be driving for the team at the inaugural Indian Grand Prix.
HRT decided to replace Karthikeyan abruptly around mid-way through the 2011 Formula 1 season but since the Indian driver was quite eager to drive in front of his home crowd, they decided to let him drive for the Indian Grand Prix but did not reveal who he
will be replacing for the race.
Vitantonio Liuzzi and Daniel Ricciardo are going to have to wait until the Korean Grand Prix most probably before finding that out about their drive for the Indian Grand Prix. However, it has been confirmed that there will be two Indian drivers on the grid
for the race.
Ricciardo did however hint that he is going to have a look at the new Indian track in order to get a better idea of it for the ‘race’ which means that he is interested in driving there.
“I will probably spend some time in the city and have a look around and then get down to business,” said Ricciardo.
Team Lotus has also announced that they are going to use their test driver Karun Chandhok for the Indian Grand Prix and according to their strategy, it is believed that Jarno Trulli might have to sit out of the race.
“Hopefully when the time comes I will be sitting on the grid waiting for the lights to go green,” reserve driver Karun Chandhok told the Daily Pioneer on a visit to the Buddh International Circuit this week.
HRT on the other hand has not even hinted about its drivers’ line-up for the inaugural race but it seems that both of the drivers might not have a problem sitting out just for one race.
According to the team’s contractual agreement, it is believed that Ricciardo might have to sit out of the race keeping in mind that he is quite optimistic about HRT’s performance since they signed a deal with Red Bull.
