Tonio Liuzzi confident that he will be back for another year
Force India’s driver Tonio Liuzzi was unable to give a promising performance in 2010 while his teammate Adrian Sutil scored a very good result comparatively. Overall, Force India was able to prove that they have what it takes to compete with the established
teams in the sport and since the team produced a promising driver like Adrian Sutil, it seems that they have made their mark in Formula 1.
The team recently revealed that they have not decided whether they will keep both of their drivers for the 2011 Formula 1 season or not. However, it seems that Adrian Sutil might keep his seat but Tonio Liuzzi is going to go through some trouble. With drivers
like Nico Hulkenberg on the loose, it won’t be easy for Force India to make a decision anytime soon regarding their second driver. It would be great to see Adrian Sutil and Nico Hulkenberg racing alongside each other though.
“Every time a driver is mentioned who Force India might be interested in, it always seems that I am the one who will have to make the space. But this is only what some media say, because from my side I am very calm,” he told the media.
Tonio currently has a contract for next year but their reserve driver Paul di Resta has also been linked to his seat for the next season. Despite all these rumours, Liuzzi is still confident that he will race once again for Force India in 2011.
“On the team's side, no one has said anything to me about it. I have a contract for next season and I am already working from that perspective. I feel safe, not only because of the contract in my hand but also because of my good relations with the team,”
he added.
He stated that he is currently not aware of such developments and he claims that his team told him that they cannot stop the media from focusing and presenting news based on rumours.
“The fact that my name is not on the list has nothing to do with it as there are also other drivers [not on the list] who have already signed. Between myself and Force India, the situation is more than clear,” he said.
Vinantonio Liuzzi said that he has heard many things but he still believes that his team knows his capabilities and they won’t let go of him so easily.
