Tony Bellew aims to punish Ovill McKenzie for drug abuse on July 16 – Boxing news
The British professional boxer, Tony Bellew, who fights at Light Heavyweight division, has promised to punish his rival Ovill McKenzie for drug abuse when they will be face to face for the Commonwealth (British Empire) Light Heavyweight Championship.
The winner of the seventh prize-fighter tournament, Tony Bellew will be fighting Jamaican professional boxer, Ovill McKenzie in their 12-round rematch on July 16, 2011 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, Merseyside in United Kingdom.
The two fighters will be facing each other as part of the Ricky Burns vs. Nicky Cook fight card under the banner of blockbuster show.
Tony ‘The Wavertree Bomber’ Bellew and McKenzie went face to face against each other last time on December 11, 2010 at the Echo Arena in Merseyside, United Kingdom.
The 31-year-old, Orthodox stance, McKenzie blamed Tony ‘Bomber’ Bellew that he takes performance-enhancing drugs to fight others. The allegation was made when Bellew twice got off the floor in their thrilling first fight to secure victory.
The time was 2:46 of the eighth round when the referee Phil Edwards ruled the bout in favour of Bellew.
The former three- ABA Heavyweight Champion, Bellew said, “I have never heard anything so daft. But as well as being ridiculous it was massively offensive as well. Every time I hit McKenzie on July 16, I will be saying to him 'The drugs don't work'. This
fight is going to be like when Muhammad Ali kept saying 'What is my name' to Ernie Terrell. Every time I land a punch I'll be asking him 'Am I on drugs?' He'll regret ever making such a stupid statement by the time I've dealt with him.”
Let’s see how the bout between both the pugilists turns out to be.
