Tony Bellew says he will make Nathan Cleverly his accountant – Boxing news
The reigning British and Commonwealth light heavyweight champion, Tony Bellew, is fully geared-up ahead of his highly-anticipated world title challenge against the current World Boxing Organisation light heavyweight world champion, Nathan Cleverly.
The Wavertree Bomber, Bellew will take on the Welsh pugilist, Cleverly this weekend on October 15, 2011 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. He stated that he will beat Cleverly easily in the ring.
“Come Saturday night, I will look at him, tell him I am going to smash his face in and then go and do it,” Bellew told The Daily Mail.
The 24-year-old undefeated Welshman, Cleverly, who holds a record of winning all of his 22 professional fights, with 11 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, recently remarked he will consider retirement if he loses to Bellew.
Bellew, who also holds an unbeaten record of winning all of his 16 professional fights, including 10 of them coming by the way of a knockout, also commented on his opponent’s statement. He said he will shake hands will Cleverly and will offer him his accountant’s
job, as he claimed Cleverly is going to lose the fight anyway.
“He is going to be retired on Sunday and after the fight I will shake his hand. I will ask him if he wants to put his maths to use and become my accountant,” Bellew added.
Bellew and Cleverly were both set to meet back in May 2011 but their bout could not happen, as Bellew failed to make the weight and was disqualified by the board.
However, their pre-fight press conference, which was held on May 21 at the O2 Arena, is still fresh in everyone’s mind as both boxers literally came down to blows in it before the security had to separate them.
Therefore, it is fair to say that this bout is certainly going to be an explosive one and let’s see whether Bellew can really defeat Cleverly in the ring or not.
