Tony Ferguson scheduled to take on Michael Johnson in a non-title bout on UFC on Fox 3 – UFC News
This is the second time that Tony Ferguson, the surging young lightweight’s opponent for UFC on FOX 3 pay-per-view has been changed as a result, the American mixed martial artist will now take on Michael Johnson in a non-title three-round bout on May 5,
2012.
The above lightweight bout will headline the preliminary card which will be televised on Fuel TV and the whole event is being headlined by the epic non-title skirmish between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller.
The ring for Fox channel’s third UFC episode will be stretched at IZOD Center situated in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Tony was originally scheduled to collide Dennis Hallman but an injury, during the sparring session, rendered him unfit to take part in
the skirmish as a result he forfeited the engagement altogether.
An immediate replacement was found in the form of Thiago Tavares but things did not go well as the Brazilian Thiago also pulled himself out of May 5, 2012 engagement because of a substantial injury.
Ferguson will now enter the octagon to take on an equally competent belligerent Michael Johnson. Tony, 28, has been in a total 15 bouts and came out victorious in 13. He has collected eight of his total wins by knockout, three by submission and two by decision.
His Saturday night opponent, Johnson, 25, has been in a total 16 bouts and came out victorious in 10. Infamous as ‘The Menace’, Michael has collected five of his wins by knockout, two by submission and three by decision.
A keen look at the stats and resume of both young lads clearly shows that the battle will be a toe-to-toe and fist-to-fist one since there is not much difference between the two belligerents. The only slight difference is in the win ratio. Tony, also known
as ‘El Cucuy’, has won more brawls and is on a continue five-bout win streak.
He has won all of his three bouts in UFC and recently collected a unanimous decision in his favour against a pretty lethal brawler, Yves Edwards. Michael, on the other hand, has collected two losses and two wins in his four bouts in UFC and needs to collect
this win to make a mark in the division.
Tony has the odds in his favour not only because of the impressive resume but also because he has the height and therefore the reach advantage and has brawled more experienced men as compared to Michael’s opponents.
