Tony Fernandes asserts Caterham have no more excuses – Formula 1 news
Caterham team principal, Tony Fernandes has said that they have no more excuses to give for not improving their position in the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship.
Fernandes said that they have moved their headquarters from Hingham to Leafield where there are many extra facilities which were not present in the previous base. Moreover, he insisted that now when they have all the essential resources which are needed
in any world class team’s head office, they must join the midfield battle by performing well in the forthcoming races.
In addition, he said that they are feeling very much encouraged to work together at their new home and are hoping to come up stronger with some significant updates in the upcoming season. He also said that they are looking forward to make the long-term development
plans at the new headquarter so as to emerge as a competitive racing team.
“I cannot stress highly enough how important the move to the new factory has been,” Fernandes said. “On one level it is fantastic to see just how motivated everybody in the team is to be starting work in our new home and on another level Leafield sends out
the clearest possible message about our long-term aspirations.”
Furthermore, he said that they have tried very hard to gather the funds to buy the new site and to renovate it according to their requirements. He also said that they have put the last brick in place for making the best future advancements while he asserted
that they have no more excuses left for not securing a place in the midfield.
“We have invested a considerable sum in purchasing the site and refurbishing it to bring it up to the standards needed to compete for honours in F1, GP2 and all the motorsport categories we take part in now and in the future,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the Leafield based team has not been able to score even a single point in the first eleven grands prix and is standing at 10th place in the constructors’ rankings.
Let’s see how they show up in the Belgian GP.
