Former English cricketer and famous commentator, Tony Greig, has said that Pakistan is the favourite to win the three match Test series against Sri Lanka and praised the kind of professionalism the Green Shirts have shown in the first two matches of the
competition.
The first Test of the series at Abu Dhabi was drawn; however, Pakistan bounced back in the Dubai Test to take a one nil lead. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in both the matches and Tony feels that they will not give a sniff to
the Islanders in the third match either.
The third match is going to be played in Sharjah from November 3 onwards. The pitch at Abu Dhabi was slammed by the cricket analysts as it was way too much in favour of the batsmen, but the track at Dubai was much more supporting and this is the reason why
it was able to produce a result.
Greig hopes that the pitch at Sharjah is going to support both bowlers and the batsmen; however, he does not see Sri Lanka bounce back to recover the deficit.
The former all-rounder said, “I haven't been to Sharjah for so long, I have no idea what the pitch is like over there. I assume it's going to be something similar. If you go one-nil down in a three test match series, you've got a bit of an advantage, in
so far as that you're not going to let them back in.”
However, considering the unpredictable nature of the Pakistan cricket team, Tony is keeping his fingers crossed and feels that it is only Pakistan, who can spoil their own party.
“I doubt very much whether they will give Sri Lanka much of a chance, given they play normally. Pakistan have also got this capacity to blow up, so who knows what happens in the next match,“ he added.
Pakistani bowlers and batsmen have dominated in the series, but their fielding let them down in the first match at Abu Dhabi. It was because of visible improvement in their catching that the Green Shirts were able to take the lead in the series. Let us hope
that the cricket fans experience a more competitive match at Sharjah.
