Tony Martin declares Bradley Wiggins as a favourite for Olympics Time Trial

World Time Trial champion Tony Martin is targeting the Olympics Gold medal at the 44 kilometre Olympics Individual Time Trial event on Wednesday.
Martin opened his 2012 winning account with a stage 4 victory at the Tour of Belgium and also managed to occupy the top podium spot at the race.
He occupied the fifth overall position at the Tour of the Basque Country and finished second at the Volta ao Algarve 2012.
However, the 27-year-old believes that British cyclist Bradley Wiggins is more likely to win the Olympics gold in front of the home crowd.
"There's just one name and it's Bradley Wiggins. He's the one to beat," said Martin.
"The surface of the road on the course is quite bad but I don't think that's too big a problem, because I'm leaning forward and will be resting on my arms".
"My goal for Wednesday is still a medal. I still hope for gold, but I don't have much hope left".
Martin is not 100% fit for the race and will ride the event with an injured wrist which will make it a little more difficult to match the likes of Bradley.
Wiggins joined the English Olympics team after returning from a fresh Tour de France overall victory and is in supreme form to receive the honours.
He has filled his bag with numerous overall victories in the earlier part of the season including the stage wins and overall victories at the Paris-Nice, Tour de Romandie, Criterium du Dauphine, Volta ao Algarve and the Tour de France.
Bradley already holds six Olympics medals and his win on Wednesday will open the ways to the record books, earning the seventh Olympics medal of his career.
His Olympics medal hunt started back in 2000 when he won a bronze medal being part of the team pursuit on track.
Any medal on Wednesday can help the British cyclist will move Wiggins a step ahead of Sir Steve Redgrave who won six medals, most by any British athlete.
While Mark Cavendish failed to do his magic during the Olympics Men’s road race, it appears as if Wiggins is an ideal candidate to cheer the home crowd with his performance.
