Tony Martin recovers from the training crash and will be seen on his bike at the
Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt
Tony Martin of Team Omega Pharma-QuickStep crashed during a training ride earlier this month and fractured his eye socket, jaw, shoulder, upper arm and cheekbone.
It was believed that he might have to stay on bed for a couple months at least, but the cyclist has already recovered from all the injuries and is all se to mark his return by the first of May 2012.
Martin crashed on the 11th of April after a fast moving car brought him to ground.
He has gone through the healing process and will represent Team Omega Pharma-QuickStep at the Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt.
“In the last two weeks I have totally concentrated on the healing process. The pain decreased from day to day and I could increase the intensity in training,” he wrote on his personal website.
“My injuries are healing to swell, that there are not medical reasons not to turn me loose on my colleagues again.
“I am happy that I can come back so quickly and prepare for my season highlight.”
“After the race we'll see how he's feeling. Concerning the race, the team can count on fast men like Ciolek, Steegmans and Van Keirsbulck", he concluded.
Tony started his professional crusade with Team High Road in 2008 and spent a period of four years with the side.
The American side announced its demise by the end of 2011 season and the German had to find a new home to continue his professional voyage.
The 27-year-old rode brilliantly in the past season and filled his bag with numerous victories including the overall wins at the Volta ao Algarve, Paris-Nice and the Tour of Beijing 2011.
Tony also occupied the top podium spot at the Chrono des Nations and secured stages at the Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana, Criterium du Dauphine, Volta ao Algarve, Paris-Nice and the Tour of Beijing to wrap up a perfect 2011 season.
He accepted an offer from Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step in 2012 and is positive to help the Belgian team with some important wins in the season.
Martin finished second overall at the Volta ao Algarve 2012 and achieved the 5th overall spot at the Tour of the Basque Country 2012.
Only time will tell, if Tony can continue his previous form to continue remaining part of the 2012 season.
His current form will be evident at the 2012 version of the Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt.
