Tony McCoy all set to comeback to action on Thursday
After staying out of action for more than three weeks, the veteran Jockey, Tony McCoy is all set to make a comeback to races on Thursday.
The 16-time champion got his ribs fractured in a fall at Taunton at the end of last year.
McCoy, who has not been riding since December 30, 2011, had plans to return for Cheltenham's high-voltage meeting, scheduled to be held this Saturday.
However, his medical specialist has not yet allowed him to take any risk over his fitness.
McCoy is booked for two mounts for trainer, Rebecca Curtis at Warwick, but his participation in the competition will entirely depend on the fitness test.
McCoy will have to go through a routine medical examination before he starts riding.
BHA's chief medical adviser Dr Michael Turner, has said that he has keenly been observing McCoy's rehabilitation process. On final decision about McCoy’s return, he said:
"I've been in contact with AP McCoy's specialist and he will send me the latest reports. AP will be reviewed by the doctor at the racecourse on Thursday."
McCoy is scheduled to ride Corsican Boy, and God Of The Kop for trainer, Rebecca Curtis, who is quite confident of a good show at Warwick.
He claimed that both of his runners are ready for the contest, adding that a solid surface would be a mega advantage for his duo.
Curtis further lavished praise on AP, saying that the Jockey understands the nature of the sport. He, meanwhile, admitted McCoy’s feedback helps him train his horses in a batter way.
The trainer shared:
“What sets AP apart is his total dedication to the sport. He is a great judge of a horse, and provides plenty of feedback immediately after a race. He'll tell you where to go next, and is very quick to tell you if the horse isn't good enough. Some jockeys
aren't quite so open as him. AP is always very honest, and that's a great help to me," he added.
McCoy has been riding since 1994-95, and has won many big titles. His lowest riding weight in the previous 12 months was 10-4.
