Point guard magician Tony Parker considers his inclusion in France’s final 12 a good sign but still awaits an approval nod from San Antonio Spurs
Despite having an eye injury which may not let him participate in the Olympic Games, team France has decided to include Tony Parker among the 12 man roster selected for London.
There is still a big question mark looming over Parker’s participation in matches and his status can only be confirmed after he goes through a medical check up with the San Antonio Spurs medical staff.
The fact was revealed by Parker himself via comments on his official website.
“It is in the hands of the doctor and San Antonio,” – Parker
Parker sustained an eye injury on June 14th which caused him to undergo surgery in order to remove a small piece of glass.  Following up to the incident, Parker decided to sue the nightclub in which he suffered the injury.
The exact details of the incident are still unknown but Parker got injured during a bottle fight between Chris Brown and Drake`s entourage.  He has reportedly arrived in the United States and will go through the medical examination
with Spurs doctors on Thursday. Until then, he can only hope of the results to be positive which will see him be a part of France`s Olympic campaign.
There haven’t been any official comments from the Spurs officials who are also waiting for the examination to take place, before they can make a decision regarding Parker’s participation with the
Les Bleus.
General manager R.C. Buford, in a statement last week stated that nothing can be said until Parker goes through the check and re-iterated that the health of their players is priority number one.
“If you know our history, Pop (coach Gregg Popovich) is going to put the health of our players above all else in relation to putting them out on the court,”
The French national has been an integral part of the Spurs during the last decade and had a break through last season in which he was among the top five contenders for the regular season MVP. The Spurs future basically lies in
Parker’s hand and one thing is for sure that they will not risk anything.
