Tony Parker leads San Antonio Spurs to efficient win over the New York Knicks 118 – 105 – NBA Recap
San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday recorded an important win over the New York Knicks 118 – 105. The Spurs were in the ascendency for most of the game at the AT&T Center, and didn’t look overly threatened in the end either as they notched up another win.
San Antonio’s veteran point guard Tony Parker once again led the charge for his team, scoring a whopping 32 points and he also had 6 assists. It was however as much a team effort as any, with a total of 7 San Antonio players in double digits.
Forward Tim Duncan had 17 points and 8 rebounds, veteran guard Manu Ginobili also added 17 coming off the bench. Gary Neal, Kawhi Leonard, Tiago Splitter and DeJuan Blair were the other Spurs men who reached the double digit index.
Super star Carmelo Anthony finally found some form in this game, scoring a team high 27 points for the New York Knicks. Amar’e Stoudemire added 18 alongside 11 rebounds while Jeremy Lin had 20 points and 4 assists.
The game got off to an even start and the scores were level, 14 – 14 just after the halfway mark in the first quarter. San Antonio then used an 8 – 3 run that took them to 22 – 17. They remained ahead until the end, 28 – 23.
New York started the second frame aggressively, a 7 – 0 burst putting them ahead of the Spurs at 30 – 28. Afterwards though, it was all San Antonio as the Spurs took the game to their opponents. An 8 – 0 run gave them the lead back, and they continued to
pound New York until halftime, going in at 58 – 41.
The third frame was the most exciting for the fans as Knicks attacked valiantly but the Spurs were equal to the task. A total of 67 points were scored in the segment but the status quo didn’t change, Spurs leading 93 -73.
The 20 point margin made the final 12 minutes irrelevant and both sides just went through the motions, the game drawing to a close at 118 – 105.
