Tony Parker might miss London Olympics due to eye injury - NBA Update
San Antonio Spurs superstar point guard Tony Parker is in danger to miss the London Olympics due to the eye injury (corneal laceration) that he suffered last week during a brawl involving rappers Chris Brown and Drake.
The 30-year-old said that he almost an eye in the brawl and underwent an operation to remove the shard that penetrated 99 percent of his left eye, scratching his cornea.
The guard didn’t join the French team on Wednesday and is waiting to get a clean chit from the doctors so that he can fly back to the States. Parker is planning to consult a specialist in New York after 5th of July.
"I'm seeing a specialist in New York with the hope of being given the all clear to play in the Olympic Games," Parker said. "Spurs are very worried”.
As things stand now, his chances to carry French flag into the London Olympics are bleak.
"Anything can happen, including me being out of the Olympics. The decision doesn't belong to me anymore. It's in the hands of the doctor and San Antonio."
The guard has also filed a $20 million lawsuit against New York City nightclub W.i.P.  and has claimed that the club’s owner negligence cost him the ordeal. The owner overlooked the fact that the two rappers were at loggerheads
and even then allowed them both to enter the club at the same time.
The injury has left Parker devastated. He his having hallucinations and was forced to stay in his room for 8 days, to avoid the risk of infection. He has to apply 5 different kinds of medications after every 2 hours, daily.
If the one guard fails to make it to the Olympics, the chances of France making any sort of headway in the basketball tournament will be next to zero. Parker is the man around whom the French team operated and his absence can mean
curtains to their Olympic campaign.
Parkers’ injury is also a big concern for the Spurs, who were surprisingly knocked out in the Conference Finals this year. Their hopes of having another successful season next time lies wholly on Parker and they will be hoping
that the injury is healed at the earliest.
