Stoke City manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis has revealed he intends to bring in a player similar to Salif Diao, the 35-year-old defensive midfielder who recently parted ways with the club.
Pulis is now looking to bring in a player like Diao, who left the club after six long years. According to the Stoke City manager, Diao proved that the club had ambition and wanted to work towards a better finish season after season in the English Premier
League.
Pulis said while speaking to reporters:
“He was an absolute dream to work with, and when he first came to us he really raised the bar. You were not just acquiring a really good player, you were also signing someone who would raise eyebrows outside of Stoke-on-Trent.
Diao initially joined Stoke City in 2006 on a loan move, making his debut in the 4-0 win over Leeds United. The defensive midfielder is credited for holding the team together and working hard to help the club revive in the 2006-2007 season.
At the end of the 2006-2007 season Diao was released by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and went on to sign with Stoke City on a more permanent basis. After three seasons at the club, he was offered a contract extension in 2009, which he accepted and remained at Britannia Stadium.
After he was out of contract, Diao resigned with Stoke City and revealed his respect for the club and manager Tony Pulis had played a big role in his decision to stay. Even though he was offered a coaching role at the club, Diao decline and has now left
Stoke City.
He revealed:
“That is just the kind of player we will be looking to sign again if we can, someone with the right DNA for Stoke City. It won't be easy, but you never stop looking for such players.”
The Stoke City manager revealed he valued players like Diao, Danny Higginbotham and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rory-Delap-c31779, all of whom had played an essential role for the club in the past. He said he hoped they would stay on with the side and help them forward in the future.
Pulis continued:
