Tony Romo believes Dallas Cowboys have a chance to reach playoffs – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has said that he believes his team has a chance to make the playoffs this season.
Although the Cowboys’ record in not very much impressive, Romo asserts that the season is not over for the team and that it still can stage a turnaround.
Tied at second spot in National Football Conference (NFC) East with Washington Redskins, the Cowboys are 5-6, two wins behind division leaders New York Giants, and have five more games to play in the regular season.
If the Cowboys manage to win all these games they might get a chance to reach the playoffs as NFC East leaders or through a wildcard berth, but given they have not been able to register victories on consistent basis they are not very much likely to win them
all.
However, Romo does not think that way. The quarterback, who has also struggled to perform well this season, thinks that team can still make the playoffs. According to the details present on the team’s website, Romo said:
“We’re in a position to where we have a chance. That’s something that not every team can say at this point. Obviously we’d like to be in better position, but I like the feeling that at least your team has a chance to go out and do something special at the
end of the season.”
Victories will not be easy, especially at the end of the season as there is a lot of extra pressure on everyone, but it is not an impossible task to win five games in a row.
Romo said:
“It’s going to take great effort and great commitment and everyone doing their job a little bit better than what we’ve done to this point, but I think our team can do that and we need to start that off this week.”
Meanwhile, Romo is also expected to set a record in his next game. As per Romo’s overall career stats, the quarterback has sent 165 touchdown passes, equalling the record of Cowboys Hall of Famer quarterback Troy Aikman.
Aikman finished his career with 165 touchdowns in 165 games, but Romo has matched the number in just 88 games. After throwing one more touchdown pass, Romo will become the franchise’s leading touchdown passer.
However, Romo has said that he is focused only on getting a win instead of setting up the record.
